We are looking for water sports instructors!

We cannot offer courses without instructors, so:

If you enjoy teaching others your favourite sport and have the time to do so, please apply to become an instructor (see below).

Our focus is on sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and rowing.

In addition to the course instructors, there is always at least one assistant instructor on the beginner sailing courses.
 

Tasks:

  • Teaching the sport to beginners and/or advanced participants
  • Responsible for safety on the water and on land during the course
  • Responsible for rescuing participants and recovering the equipment (as far as possible)
  • Coordinating the group and the course on the water/land
  • Careful/responsible handling of equipment
  • Environmentally-friendly outdoor behaviour

Requirements:

  • High level of responsibility with regard to participants and equipment
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of participants, equipment and weather conditions
  • First aid skills
  • Sport-specific rescue skills or lifesaving certificate (except for co-instructors)
  • Proof of basic knowledge (e.g. through sailing licence, windsurfing licence or similar)
  • For sailing (course instructor): "Sportbootführerschein See" (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft on the Waterways Navigable by Sea-Going Ships) or higher
  • For windsurfing: "Sportbootführerschein See" (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft on the Waterways Navigable by Sea-Going Ships) would be great, "SBF Binnen" (International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft in Inland Waters) with motor is also acceptable, or without licence if necessary

Instructions and briefings

There are special briefings for instructors and course participants for each of the different water sports. Please do not use University Sport's general briefings.

Instructors will be briefed on the equipment and course schedule by Ms. Wessler (sailing and windsurfing) or Mr. Engel (canoeing and rowing).
