Last revised: 2 June 2025, subject to change!

Keyword Information
Eligibility All students and members of staff at the University of Greifswald and University Medicine are eligible to participate. If there are enough places available, students from other universities and external participants, e.g. former employees and alumni, can also take part in the courses provided by University Sport. All participants must be at least 18 years old.
Registration period The start of the registration period will be announced on our website.
Cancellation There is a two-week cancellation period from the start of the general online registration period, not from the date on which a participant has registered for the course. Cancellations must be sent in writing via email to hochschulsport@uni-greifswald.de, stating the course number and name. Withdrawal from the course after the cancellation deadline is only possible in the event of a long absence due to injury or illness, upon presentation of a medical certificate within the first 5 weeks after the start of the online registration period. The fee will be refunded on a pro rata basis for the dates that can no longer be attended. It is not possible to cancel attendance for special events such as workshops and tournaments. However, it is possible to name a replacement.
Instructor Our courses are led by instructors who are bound by contract. Their instructions must be followed.
Fees The fees are calculated based on the total number of hours provided in the course during the respective period. The fees apply per person, exceptions will be indicated. The fees are displayed next to the respective sports. The fee is usually collected by direct debit. If the direct debit is declined, the participant will be charged the bank processing fee incurred. Refunds of course fees: see ‘Cancellation’ and ‘Cancellation of classes’.
Cancellation of classes A short-term cancellation of course classes (e.g. due to illness of the course instructor) does not oblige University Sport to make up for the class or to refund a proportion of the course fees. Course fees will only be refunded if the course does not take place. There is no legal entitlement to the advertised courses being held.
Cancellation of classes for weather-dependent courses (including water sports and team sports) There is no entitlement to a refund for these offers if the conditions make it impossible for classes to be held properly and responsibly. This includes, for example, strong winds, storms, or an unplayable pitch. Where possible, an attempt will be made to find a sporting alternative.
Insurance Students and members of staff are only insured by the Unfallkasse Mecklenburg-Vorpommern accident insurance fund for designated courses held by University Sport. Open play courses, flat rates and tournament events are not insured by the Unfallkasse M-V. Non-employees and civil servants are not covered by general insurance. All athletes are advised to ensure that they have adequate accident, health, and liability insurance.
Liability disclaimer Participation in courses offered by University Sport does not give rise to any liability claims against the University or its members of staff beyond the statutory liability. Use of the sports facilities and equipment belonging to University Sport, as well as municipal and other sports grounds or halls, is at your own risk. Neither the State nor the University is liable for accidents, damage of any kind, theft, etc.
Programme changes All offers are subject to change. Please check our sports programme immediately before registering.
Class checks Please note that participation in sports activities is subject to checks by staff members!
