Cooperation with the University of Rostock

The university sport departments of the state universities will see closer collaboration in the future.

The Head of University Sport at the University of Rostock, Dr. Juliane Lanz, and the Head of University Sport at the University of Greifswald, Michael Bödow, agreed on closer collaboration at a networking meeting. ‘Ultimately, we have the same interests,’ emphasises Dr. Lanz. Mr. Bödow adds that this will allow scarce resources to be used more effectively.

This brings a major advantage for students and staff at the University of Greifswald: from the 2023 summer semester onwards, they will also be able to enrol in university sports courses at the University of Rostock in their respective status groups. This could be particularly interesting for online courses, excursions and weekend seminars. Anyone who would like to take a look at what the University of Rostock has to offer can do so directly via the University Sport website [de].

Sponsorship

We are the largest sports provider in Greifswald and the surrounding area. Our primary target group consists of the approximately 10,000 students and 6,300 employees of the University of Greifswald. However, our services are also aimed at students and employees of other universities, as well as external parties.

Certainly an interesting target group to attract attention. As an organisational unit of a public institution, we are of course bound by regulations. However, various forms of sponsorship or donations are possible.

Donations also help us to expand our range of services. Especially when it comes to required investments, we cannot and do not always want to pass on all costs to users.

We would be delighted if you would be interested in a partnership with us.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Cooperation

We already cooperate with the town, the town sports association, several clubs and private providers of sports and dance. We usually make use of their infrastructure or staff as we only have limited resources ourselves.

As we are constantly developing our programme and are interested in new trends, we welcome any new contacts.

The details of the cooperation always depend very much on what is on offer. However, we strive to offer as many activities as possible under our own management and with our own instructors in order to maintain close ties with our users. We therefore only resort to complete service packages in rare cases.

Examples:
Dance classes: We hold dance classes in a dance school with our instructors, as we do not have suitable premises ourselves.
Volleyball: We rent sports hall slots from the town in order to be able to offer sufficient playing time.
Bouldering: We negotiate slots in a bouldering hall with the hall operator so that we can run our own courses there, but we use their equipment.
Gym: We do not link to other gyms where students have to sign contracts in order to receive a referral fee.
Travel: We do not see ourselves as a travel agent, but generally endeavour to offer excursions and sports trips ourselves.

I look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in creating joint sports offers.
